What happens if a carer is sick or unable to work?

We will ensure that there is a back up carer provided to you with no loss in the level of homecare service provided and no impact on the agreed care plan.

What about Insurance - Do You Insure your Carers ?

All of our carers are insured to work in your home, so in the unlikely event of an accident you and the carer are fully covered.

Your rates are lower than many of the others - Why?

Our margins are lower and as we are not a franchise, we don't have to pay franchise costs. Therefore, we can provide our services more cost effectively.

So you pay your staff less then ?

No, we actual pay our carers more than most of our competitors and we provide more comprehensive training too ! We just take a lower margin and make sure that our office runs efficiently.

How does the tax relief work?

You or your family may be eligible to claim income tax relief on the cost of home care at your top rate of tax. This allows the person paying for the service to reduce the cost of care by claiming Tax Relief at their marginal rate of Tax (either 20% or 41%) . Tax benefit can also be availed of through the tax credit system which allows for the benefit to be received as part of your monthly or weekly wages.

To avail of this a IT47 form is required "Employed Person Taking Care of an Incapacitated Individual" available through the Revenue website or from your local Revenue office.

Either the person being cared for or their relatives can claim this tax relief which will substantially reduce the cost of providing care. See Tax Relief/Funding

How does Helping Hand differ from an agency?

We are not an agency or a franchise; we are an Irish owned company directly employing our team of carers. This means that we look after the administration of payroll, PRSI and provide public and employers liability insurance for all our care team.

What services does Helping Hand provide?

We offer a full range of homecare services to promote independent living in the comfort of home. These services range from companionship, homecare or personal care services and can include: company and conversation, personal care, transportation, incontinence care and dementia or Alzheimer’s care. Care can be provided for a few hours a day up to twenty four hours, seven days a week.

How do you vet your Carers?

All of our carers are thoroughly background checked through Garda Clearance and also two references from previous employers.

How does your ongoing Carer supervision work?

We at Helping Hand monitor and review our carers on a regular basis to ensure that they have all the support they require to deliver the level of quality care as agreed in their clients care plans.
